{"id":139,"date":"2025-10-07T09:18:30","date_gmt":"2025-10-07T09:18:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.he-icarus-project.eu\/?p=139"},"modified":"2025-10-07T09:18:31","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T09:18:31","slug":"icarus-at-eucass-2025-and-ippw-2025-showcasing-progress-in-inflatable-heat-shields-and-flexible-tps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.he-icarus-project.eu\/index.php\/2025\/10\/07\/icarus-at-eucass-2025-and-ippw-2025-showcasing-progress-in-inflatable-heat-shields-and-flexible-tps\/","title":{"rendered":"ICARUS at EUCASS 2025 and IPPW 2025: Showcasing Progress in Inflatable Heat Shields and Flexible TPS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The ICARUS consortium continues to actively contribute to the international aerospace community by presenting its latest achievements at two prestigious events:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>European Conference for AeroSpace Sciences (EUCASS) 2025<\/strong> \u2013 Rome, Italy (30 June \u2013 4 July 2025)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>International Planetary Probe Workshop (IPPW) 2025<\/strong> \u2013 Stuttgart, Germany (21\u201327 June 2025)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These workshops and conferences provided a valuable platform to engage with the global scientific and engineering community, share technical progress, and discuss the challenges and opportunities of advancing <strong>Inflatable Heat Shield (IHS)<\/strong> technologies for re-entry and planetary exploration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ICARUS Contributions at EUCASS 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the <strong>European Conference for AeroSpace Sciences<\/strong> in Rome, ICARUS team presented the paper:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>\u201cEffects of oxygen concentration on the degradation of carbon-based insulating materials for flexible thermal protection systems\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ICARUS Contributions at IPPW 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the <strong>International Planetary Probe Workshop<\/strong>, the consortium presented two papers highlighting both the strategic vision and technical challenges of the project:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>\u201cThe European expectations within the project ICARUS in the field of Inflatable Heat Shields as potential game-changer for planetary re-entry missions\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>\u201cDesign and development challenges of Flexible TPS solutions for Earth re-entry applications: the ICARUS project approach\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Looking Ahead<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By participating in both <strong>IPPW<\/strong> and <strong>EUCASS<\/strong>, the ICARUS consortium has reinforced its role at the forefront of European efforts to advance <strong>inflatable and reusable technologies<\/strong>.
