The ICARUS consortium continues to actively contribute to the international aerospace community by presenting its latest achievements at two prestigious events:
- European Conference for AeroSpace Sciences (EUCASS) 2025 – Rome, Italy (30 June – 4 July 2025)
- International Planetary Probe Workshop (IPPW) 2025 – Stuttgart, Germany (21–27 June 2025)
These workshops and conferences provided a valuable platform to engage with the global scientific and engineering community, share technical progress, and discuss the challenges and opportunities of advancing Inflatable Heat Shield (IHS) technologies for re-entry and planetary exploration.
ICARUS Contributions at EUCASS 2025
At the European Conference for AeroSpace Sciences in Rome, ICARUS team presented the paper:
- “Effects of oxygen concentration on the degradation of carbon-based insulating materials for flexible thermal protection systems”
ICARUS Contributions at IPPW 2025
At the International Planetary Probe Workshop, the consortium presented two papers highlighting both the strategic vision and technical challenges of the project:
- “The European expectations within the project ICARUS in the field of Inflatable Heat Shields as potential game-changer for planetary re-entry missions”
- “Design and development challenges of Flexible TPS solutions for Earth re-entry applications: the ICARUS project approach”
Looking Ahead
By participating in both IPPW and EUCASS, the ICARUS consortium has reinforced its role at the forefront of European efforts to advance inflatable and reusable technologies. These exchanges foster collaboration with the international community and support the project’s mission of paving the way for the next generation of space transportation and planetary entry systems.
Stay tuned for more updates as ICARUS continues to progress toward flight demonstration.
