After the System Requirements Review (SRR), an important checkpoint was marked by a Technical Review Meeting (REV #1) with the European Commission, held on April 10th, 2025. The objective of the review was to provide the European Commission—including the project officer and assigned technical experts—with a comprehensive overview of the project’s status from both technical and programmatic perspectives. The review was hosted at European Commission premises in Brussels, Belgium, where the project team gathered for a one-day meeting. Deimos Space, acting as both technical and programmatic coordinator, led the event and facilitated discussions around the achievements and direction of the project.
The meeting brought together all the partners of the ICARUS consortium: INDRA-Deimos, CIRA, DLR, ONERA, PANGAIA, ATMOS Space Cargo, HDES, DEMCON, and POLITO.
To support the review, the team prepared a complete set of technical presentations, highlighting the full range of activities carried out since the kick-off. These included updates on mission and system definition, aeroshape design, technology development, system engineering processes, and programmatic planning.
The REV #1 represents a crucial foundation to progress into the current project phase (preliminary design), aiming at:
- The consolidation of both the mission and system feasibility.
- The preparation of the next phase (detailed design).
Stay tuned as ICARUS continues its journey toward flight validation of IHS technologies—paving the way for safer, smarter, and more sustainable space missions.
